U.S. News & World Report released its “Best Hospitals” analysis. A number of hospitals in the local area received high rankings.

U.S. News analyzed data from nearly 5,000 centers across multiple clinical specialties, procedures and conditions. Scores were based on a variety of patient outcomes and care-related factors, such as patient safety and nurse staffing. Hospitals were ranked nationally in specialties and regionally in states and major metro areas.

A few hospitals in Westchester were regionally ranked. White Plains Hospital placed 15th in New York. Westchester Medical Center and Northern Westchester Hospital both ranked 19th.

U.S. News also evaluated hospitals in certain common medical procedures and conditions. Rather than a numerical ranking, hospitals are given a rating of high performing, average or below average in each category.

A number of local hospitals were high performing in a number of procedures or conditions.

Orange Regional Medical Center: High Performing- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Heart Failure

New York-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital: High Performing- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Heart Failure

White Plains Hospital: : High Performing- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Heart Failure, Colon Cancer Surgery, Abdominal Aoritc Aneurysm Repair, Orthopedics, and Neurology & Neurosurgery

Westchester Medical Center: High Performing- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Heart Failure ----- Northern Westchester Hospital: High Performing- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Hip Replacement, Colon Cancer Surgery and Heart Failure
