Joseph “Eddie” Passante, 85 of Highland, NY passed away November 7, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family and his dog Max, his best friend. Born June 17, 1931, Joseph was the ninth of twelve children born to Anna Salzano Passante and Paul Passante. Joseph proudly served his country in the US Airforce. He was predeceased by his loving wife Viola Heckinger whom which he married in March of 1959. Joseph was a retiree from the New York State Division of Youth.
He leaves behind his beloved children Joseph Passante Jr., Jeffry Passante and his wife Dawn, Jill Runza and Charles Muggeo. Joseph was the proud grandfather of Breanna, Brittany, Mia, and Anthony and great grandfather to Lorenzo and Nina.
Joseph is predeceased by his sister Janet Auringer and brothers Neil, Matt, Lefty, Augie, Ernie, and Hank Passante. His surviving siblings include Paul Passante, Marion Kusmuck, Margaret Schaffert, and Rosalie Marinucci. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Joseph had a lifelong passion for sports. He was a member of the Dutchess County Softball Hall of Fame and an avid bowler. His favorite pastime was playing poker with his buddies. Joseph will be remembered for his generosity, sense of humor, and most of all the love he had for his family.
Calling hours will take place Wednesday, November 9th from 5pm-8pm at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 38 Main Street, Highland, NY 12528. A Funeral Home service will be held Thursday, November 10th 11am at the funeral home followed by burial in Lloyd Cemetery, Highland, NY.
