Reported Hauntings at The Shanley Hotel in Napanoch, NY
When I book a hotel I look for a pool and sauna, but if your amenities include an encounter with a ghost, it sounds like The Shanley Hotel is the place for you.
So what makes The Shanley Hotel one of the most haunted hotels in New York? They explain on their website that the hotel has been opened since 1845 and there have been so many guests to trek through the hotel that "A few of those guests have never left and still linger in the corridors waiting to greet newcomers and welcome back the returning guests."
Tragedy was around every corner throughout the hotel's early history, one story in particular is truly heartbreaking. The Shanley Hotel's website explains that back in the day a 3-year-old named Rosie lost her balance while looking in a well nearby. Rosie was the daughter of the Barber Peter Greger and they lived onsite at the hotel.
Many guests believe to have seen an apparition of a little girl and have allegedly heard her speaking to them "from the shadows of the hallway."
Other experiences include fragrant smells of perfume believed to belong to Beatrice Shanley roaming the halls. Whistles, voices, footsteps, and shadow figures have all been caught on camera as evidence during different stays at The Shanley.
You can check out some of the evidence of the hauntings mentioned above on the Shanley Hotel website.
