2024 Great Race Making a Stop in the Hudson Valley

The 2024 Great Race starts in Kentucky and will race through the Hudson Valley in June.

The Great Race is one of America's best cross-country long-distance car rallies showcasing some of the coolest automobiles you will ever see! The race, which started back in the 80s offers car enthusiasts the opportunity to drive the rally route each year in hopes of winning the cash prize.

If you've ever watched movies like The Great Race or The Cannonball Run this race is similar and offers car teams the chance to drive their classic cars along a predetermined route over a specific period of time and whichever team completes the entire race the quickest wins money from the prize pool. One thing that makes the Great Race different from similar races is that all the cars participating must have been manufactured in 1974 or earlier, making traveling cross country a bit more challenging.

The 2024 race is expected to feature 120 of the world’s finest antique automobiles with each car team paying a $6,500 team entry fee ($9,000 for corporate entries). It will consist of 4 team members (typically a driver, a navigator, and two Support Crew members).

2024 Great Race Route

The Great Race will start this year in Owensboro, Kentucky on Saturday, June 22nd and will take teams through Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island and ends in Maine on Sunday, June 30th. As you can see in the picture above all stops during this year's rally will either be a lunch or an overnight stop.

Great Race Stops in Montgomery, New York

The Great Race will have a lunch stop in the Orange County town of Montgomery, NY on Thursday, June 27th at approximately 11:20 a.m. on Clinton Street. The Town is inviting everyone to come out and show support for this year's car teams and to see some amazing automobiles. The town posted on Facebook,

"The Great Race is coming to the Village of Montgomery in less than a month - June 27, 2024 @ 11:20 AM....These classic cars will roll into our beautiful Village, bringing with them a sense of nostalgia and excitement. Our village is built on values and events like the Great Race, so let’s make this a memorable day for our community!"

The Great Race will have six stops after Montgomery and is expected to conclude on Sunday, June 30th in Gardiner, Maine.
