Eddie Izzard Keeps 35-Year Comedy Career ‘Molten’ With Remix Tour
Eddie Izzard is a whirling dervish. Over the course of a 15-minute interview, she reveals plans to take her one-woman Hamlet global, continue her pursuit of a political career and perform her Remix tour in Spanish.
But first, there's the Remix tour in English, which kicks off a 25-city run on Saturday, Oct. 5 at UPAC in Kingston. With the show, Izzard -- who announced last year she would add Suzy to her name but retain Eddie with professional commitments -- takes bits from throughout her 35-year comedy career.
But because she's Eddie and intent on constantly challenging herself, fans can expect new takes on jokes that have become ubiquitous in the cultural lexicon. The often-quoted and GIFed 'Death Star Canteen' sketch makes it into the show but in a remixed approach that her digressive style lends itself to.
"If I did that again, I would know it too well. I find a different way of going in. It actually starts and people, if they hear it they'll think, 'I know where the sketch goes.' And then they go, 'oh, I don't know where it goes. It's going off somewhere else.' And then it goes back to where it was supposed to go. Then it goes off again, so that's how I keep it fresh. I keep it molten," Izzard said.

Will Eddie Izzard Return to Kaos for Season 2?
The hit Netflix series Kaos reimagines Greek mythology in a modern era and features an all-star cast, including Jeff Goldblum as Zeus, David Thewlis as Hades, Debi Mazar as Medusa, Billie Piper as Cassandra and Izzard as Lachy, one of the fates.
While Netflix hasn't greenlit a second season yet, creator Charlie Covell has said they envisioned the series having a three-season arc. Goldblum has also indicated he'd want to return for another season. Would Izzard?
"Oh, yeah," Izzard said enthusiastically. "Charlie Covell, they've unleashed their mind on this and to be the creator and the sole writer, it's great. And they've worked so hard on making this all happen and such great actors, so it's great to be a part of that."
Izzard's character and the two other fates face off against Zeus toward the end of the first season. Without spoiling the show, there's some room for interpretation for what a future for the fates should a second season materialize.
"If you think about the word [fate], fate cannot die. It just cannot die. It just can't happen. So we're pretty bullish about when Zeus tries to take us on," Izzard said. "But yes, I'd be very happy to come back, and I loved doing it."
