Growing up in my backyard at my childhood home, my dad always had a garden.

To this day my parents still live there and while the backyard has seen some changes over the years, my dad made sure that there was always space for his homegrown vegetables to grow.

Coming from an Italian family he always grew tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant, and of course basil. This year is no different. He's got some new additions this year though like jalapenos and broccoli.

I went out of town for a few days and when I came home my dads garden was thriving. The amount of fresh broccoli and lettuce he had was insane and delicious (of course I had to try it).

Now I live on my own in an apartment that gets great sun and has a nice little outdoor area. I decided I wanted to try and grow my own stuff this year as a trial run. I planted lavender, basil and mint.

I was so excited. The lavender and basil have been sprouting and growing properly according to all the gardening sites I've been following. However, I'm having such a problem with the mint.

It hasn't sprouted at all!

Do you have any tips or tricks when it comes to gardening? I'll make sure to keep you updated from time to time, but it's been weeks and not one single leaf has grown. I've watered it, put it in the sun...I'm not ashamed to admit this, I've even talked to it. Pleading for it to grow.

And still nothing.
