The Great New York State Fair kicks off its 2024 run on August 21 in Syracuse, reviving a cherished end-of-summer tradition that dates back nearly 200 years. With a lineup promising to draw over a million visitors, here's everything you need to know to make the most of your visit.

Fair Dates and Hours

The fair will run from August 21 through Labor Day, September 2. Gates open daily from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., but no entry or re-entry will be allowed after 9 p.m. Buildings across the 375-acre fairgrounds are open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day, with some exceptions.

Ticket Prices and Parking

Daily admission is $8.32 for adults, which includes fees. Children aged 12 and under, as well as seniors 65 and older, get in for free every day. Parking is $12.41 per vehicle. Tickets and parking passes can be purchased online before your visit or with a credit card on-site.

Note: Cash admissions will not be accepted at the gates. However, cash-to-card conversion machines, self-service kiosks, and QR code options will be available.

Ride Tickets and Special Days

Unlimited ride wristbands can be purchased online for $28 until noon on August 21. Afterward, wristbands will cost $35 on weekdays and $45 on weekends. Special free admission days include August 22 for youth and students, August 26 for law enforcement, August 27 for fire and emergency services, and August 29 for active military members and veterans.

Concert Lineup

The fair will feature nearly 50 top performers across genres including country, rock, and hip-hop. All concerts, including those at Chevy Court and Suburban Park, are free with admission. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Additional Information

Maps detailing food options, vendors, and attractions are available on the fair’s website, nysfair.ny.gov. The fair is smoke- and vape-free, though designated smoking areas are available outside select entry gates. Bird flu precautions are in place, with new testing and safety guidelines for poultry.
