If you have kids, or maybe you love to ride amusement park rides, this could be a great event that could satisfy the thrill-seeker in you and help an organization that needs our help.

Back in August the folks at Operation Adopt A Soldier lost their headquarters to a fire in the town of Wilton. The fire not only destroyed the headquarters but it also destroyed more than 200 care packages that were packed and ready to be shipped out to servicemembers overseas.

To try and recoup some of the items lost the amusement park the Great Escape in Lake George has announced that they are going to be kicking off their annual Oktoberfest this year by partnering with Operation Adopt a Soldier, according to News 10.

Starting this weekend through September 22nd, anyone who plans a visit to the Great Escape are being encouraged to donate non-perishable items with a total value of $10 or more. Some of the items they are looking for include, toothpaste, chips, cookies, prepaid phone calling cards and more.

If you make a donation at the Great Escape you will get a discount of nearly 70% on admission to the park. It's a win-win for everyone, so make plans to visit the Great Escape in Lake George by Sept. 22.
