Gary S. Truax, a Hopewell Junction Resident, Dies at 79
Gary S. Truax, 79, a resident of Hopewell Junction, died on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born on September 22, 1938 in Ogdensburg, Gary was the son of Elon and Florence (Seward) Truax. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1965. Gary worked as a Junior Chemist as Chemprene, Inc. in Beacon until his retirement. He enjoyed going to Monticello to visit the casino, and watching sports. He also loved working in the yard.
On October 22, 1972 at the United Methodist Church in Poughkeepsie, Gary married Patricia Hennessy who predeceased him on July 21, 2005. Gary is survived by his children, Michael Truax of GA, David Truax of GA, Paul Truax of TX, Susan Truax of NY, Tina Pickering of NY and Kenneth Burkhardt of NY; his grandchildren, Matthew Burkhardt, Tyler Pickering, Kari Blackwell and her husband Matthew, and Haley Truax; his great grandchildren, Lucas and Karis; his sister Elaine Beale of CA; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Pamala Wendel.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7pm at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10am at the funeral home with military honors.
