It’s back. We’re talking about, of course, the rain. The seemingly ever-present chance of a shower or thunderstorm with heavy rainfall is once again in the forecast over the next few days. Since we haven’t really had the chance to dry out between these waves of rain, once again, it won’t take much to overwhelm our waterways and yards.

Because of this, the National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch in effect for Sullivan County through late Tuesday night. These storms could bring rainfall in the amount of 1 to 3 inches for the watch area beginning tonight through tomorrow evening. In some areas, it may even be more.

With all of this rain in the forecast, areas could see a rapid rise in water levels along streams or creeks as well as low-lying areas. Urban areas with poor drainage could also see some flooding. Flash flooding is a dangerous situation as you may have little to no warning it is happening.

Should flash flooding occur, we will get you that information as soon as possible.
