Dorothy E. “Dotty” Curatolo, 88, died peacefully at Wingate at Ulster on November 6, 2016. Dorothy was born February 11, 1928, the daughter of Victor and Romilda Petronella. She was preceded in death by her husband James Curatolo, her parents, her brother Rudolph, and her treasured lhasa apso, “Heidi”.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Victoria Thomasson and husband Robert of South Boston, Virginia and her son James Curatolo and wife Lora of Poughkeepsie. Dorothy was a most beloved grandmother to Andrew Witko and wife Claire of Washington, DC, Stephanie Witko of Washington, DC, Matthew Curatolo and Debra Harilla, Christopher, Antonio, and Rachel Curatolo all of Poughkeepsie. Her sister Joann St.Leger and husband John of Poughkeepsie, nephew and godson Scott Carpenter and wife Angela also survive her. In addition, several nieces and nephews will remember “Aunt Dot .

Dorothy was an active member of St. Anne and St. Rita Societies as well as The Italian Center serving with pride on many committees. Her greatest passion was her life long volunteer work for Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Church and Mt. Carmel School.

Along with her active church life she enjoyed her friends and family, decades of activities and her travel adventures with “The Seven Belles” of Poughkeepsie. She was an avid Yankee fan “coaching” countless ballgames from her kitchen! Her family loved her wit, her humor and of course her cooking! Her sauce and meatballs were incomparable and her stuffed mushrooms her signature dish! Her front door was always open and coffee was continually brewing in her Pyrex pot. She loved having fun and lived each day with anticipation, joy, and gratitude.

Visitation and calling hours to remember the life of Dorothy will be held Wednesday, November 9th from 4pm to 8pm at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. 218 Mill St. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Street level and wheelchair accessible entrance located off Vassar St. A Mass to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held at Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Church on Thursday, November 10th at 10:00 am with burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery immediately following Mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that consideration of donations be made to Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Church, The Alzheimer’s Association Hudson Valley Chapter, or Furry Friends Pet Rescue, Hopewell Junction.
