Brian David Murphy, A Newburgh Resident, Dies at 32

Brian David Murphy, of Newburgh, NY, a graduate of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and a longtime resident of the area, died Saturday, August 6, 2016 at his residence. He was 32 years old. The son of David and Patricia (Vitolo) Murphy, he was born December 22, 1983 in Bronx, NY.

Brian was a devoted and loving son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He loved his family (including his beloved dog), friends, music and fashion. He earned an Associates Degree, along with Accreditations in Gemology from the Gemological Institute of America.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his brother, Martin of Newburgh; sister, Patricia Rivera and her husband Juan of Palm Coast, FL; grandmother Helen Vitolo of Maybrook, NY; nephews, Jace Joseph and Luke Brian Rivera of Palm Coast, FL; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in America and Europe. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Elizabeth Ann and James Kevin Murphy and his maternal grandfather, Joseph Dominick Vitolo.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 pm on Sunday, August 14th, 2016 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Monday, August 15th, 2016 at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1250 NY Route 32, Plattekill, NY 12568, with Father Kevin Malick officiating. Burial will be private.
