Judging from past storms here in the Hudson Valley, it's safe to say that we have a lot of weather watchers in our area.

We're always getting messages and updates about weather conditions around the H.V. Which help us when it comes to sharing useful information.

If you find that weather is a passion of yours why not use it to help the National Weather Service?

SKYWARN and the National Weather Service will be holding Weather Spotting Training sessions. These sessions will inform future spotters of what to be looking for when there are watches for severe thunderstorms, tornado watches or flood watches.

Weather Spotters are not storm chasers. SKYWARN encourages personal safety even though they know  spotters will "engaged in mobile activities, may encounter severe weather and should be alert to rapidly changing weather conditions that could impact personal safety."

SKYWARN training is not available in the Hudson Valley however, there are two training sessions in Albany on May 10th in Bethlehem from 7pm until 9pm and then on May 15th on Cohoes from 7pm until 9pm as well.

Pre registration is required for the training session. For details and to sign up, visit SKYWARN.
