Martha Josephine Parker Gayle, 61, a lifelong resident of Newburgh, entered into rest Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Born on April 20, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry Parker Sr. and Muriel Gertrude (Jackson) Parker. She married Arnold Gayle, who predeceased her in December, 2010.

Martha was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and worked as a Physical Therapy Aid for the Dominican Sisters of Hope at Mount Saint Mary in Newburgh. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she sang in the Junior Choir as a young girl. Martha was a very strong woman who undoubtedly loved her family and children. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Muriel (Jackson) Parker; her children: Joseph Strickland and Jessica Gayle, both of Newburgh; her siblings: Carol Parker Faulkner of Maybrook; Charles Parker Jr., Randy Parker, and Lonnie Parker Sr., all of Newburgh; grandchildren: Joseph Strickland Jr. (Jo-Jo), Saniyah Strickland, and Tymere Turner; nieces and nephews Shaniqua, Mikey, Courtney, Maddy, Charles, Ahmodd, Lonnie, Sheana, Erica, Jordan and Brittany; as well as 8 great-nieces and 7 great-nephews.

Visitation will be held from 11am- 1pm on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave. Newburgh, followed by a service at the funeral home at 1 pm.
