After admitting to emailing child pornography four years ago, a Highlands man was sentenced to five years in prison and lifetime supervision after his release.

Neil Rothfeder, 58, pleaded guilty in July to distributing child pornography. He will also have to register as a sex offender as part of his sentence. The sentence was announced by United States Attorney Richard S. Hartunian and Angel M. Melendez, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations, New York.

Rothfeder's case was investigated by the New York office of Homeland Security Investigations and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Katherine Kopita. He was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, which works to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.
