Frank Anthony Cannova, a Newburgh Resident, Dies at 56
Frank is survived by his children Gina Cannova of Newburgh, and her mother Lynne Karrick; his sons Franki and Anthony Cannova of Long Island, Coltin and Kyle Flores of Newburgh, and their mother Judi Flores; grandchildren, Josiah Santana and Logan Flores; his sisters, Josie Citta and husband Sal of Massachusetts, Frances Oddo and her husband Ron of South Carolina, and Angie Cannova of Newburgh; nephews, Steven Citta and family, Timothy Citta and Nickolas Oddo. Surviving him are also cousins, Nick Scaglione, Elizabeth Warren, and Patricia Tarsio, all of Newburgh, and Marianne Robinson of Michigan. Frank was predeceased by his parents, Mario and Angela Cannova.

Kevin was a hard worker, but when he was given the time to unwind, he loved nothing more than being in the outdoors. His favorite activities were fishing, camping and hiking, he was widely known for being an outdoorsman. The one thing Kevin loved more than being in the outdoors was being a loving father and a proud grandfather.

The daughter of Jean (DeGaris) and the late Gerard F. Lindenberger, Irene was born on April 17, 1964 in Nyack, NY. Irene graduated from Clarkstown South High School, earned an Associate’s Degree from Rockland County Community College. Irene loved teaching! She returned to school in her thirties, completing a Bachelor’s Degree in English and a Master’s Degree in Multi-Cultural Studies at SUNY New Paltz earning the distinction, summa cum laude and was a member of the Kappa Delta Pi honor society. She continued as a permanent substitute in Cornwall Central School District after graduation and later as a primary education teacher at The English Rose Day School in Washingtonville.

Violet was a homemaker. She thoroughly enjoyed painting and tending to her garden. She loved visiting and keeping in touch with her family and friends. Her wisdom and stories will live on through those who cherished her. Survivors include two sisters; two brothers; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Son of Arlene Edwards Birch of Wappingers Falls and the late Harry L. "Roy" Birch, he was born June 2, 1951 in Beacon. Wayne worked as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor with Daytop Village in Rhinebeck. He also spent a large amount of time working at the Ecclesia Ministries in Newburgh. Wayne enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He loved boating on the Hudson as well as kayaking and camping. Wayne was an avid fossil collector. He had a passion for time spent at the ocean especially in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. Wayne loved his fish. He will be remembered for wearing various hats from his collection.

Margaret worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie and later worked as a secretary at IBM. She went back to school for transcription and worked as a transcriptionist at Vassar Brothers Hospital until her retirement. She was passionate about church and attended both St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls and St. Mary Mother of the Church in Fishkill. As her children were growing up, she was involved with the Mothers Guild at St. Mary's School and Ketcham High School Wrestling Booster Club as well as being a Girl Scout Leader. Together with her husband, she enjoyed traveling including trips to Scotland and Ireland, Italy and Bermuda. Margaret was an avid reader and liked to crochet. Most importantly, she loved to spend time with her family. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her ridiculously large dinners.

Immediately after completion of his doctorate at Cornell, Bill joined IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY, where he continued to live and work for the rest of his life, retiring from IBM with the rank of Senior Engineer in May 1993 after nearly 35 years of service. His career at IBM was primarily in the area of system design and architecture of mainframe computers, serving in both staff and management positions. His initial assignment was in the system architecture group for Stretch, an early IBM supercomputer. He was later in a similar group that designed the System 360, which became IBM's dominant mainframe system and is still the design basis for their large server computers. He was the manager of the microprogram control system of the mid-size System 360, Model 50.

Robert was a self-employed Licensed Land Surveyor. His incredible sense of humor will be missed by all. He was a member of the Whortlekill Rod & Gun Club and the former Dutchess Golf & Country Club. He loved fishing, hunting and playing golf. He was passionate about sports; playing on various organized teams throughout his life, teaching and watching his children play, as well as enjoying professional games. Some of his many achievements include induction into the Dutchess County Slow Pitch Softball Hall of Fame and the Dutchess County Hole in One Club.

Dave as he was known to all, was a retired carpenter with Carpenters Union Local #279 Newburgh for over 50 years, where he worked on numerous major construction projects throughout the area. As a highly skilled carpenter, he also built many local residential homes. Most importantly, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he recently celebrated 65 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Barbara. Known for his support and caring of his family, Dave loved to keep abreast of current events in the news and was a keen historian. He also loved to travel with his family across the US and abroad. Dave will be greatly missed by all.
