In what sounds like a broken record, police need help after another shooting in Newburgh. This one was very close to Sunday’s fatal shooting.

This marks the third time in less than a week that City of Newburgh police are investigating reports of shots fired and hoping for the public’s help.

On Wednesday around 11 p.m., City of Newburgh police was notified that man entered St. Lukes Hospital with a gunshot wound to his back. He was taken to the hospital by a friend. The unnamed man’s injuries don’t appear to be life threatening, police say.

Authorities responded to the scene, 190 N. Miller Street and found a loaded handgun. It’s unclear if the gun was used in Wednesday’s shooting, police say.

Anyone with information is asked to contact City of Newburgh Police at 845-561-3131.

Wednesday’s shooting happened very close to where 18-year-old Omani Free and 20-year-old Tabitha Cruz were killed while attending a Halloween party in Newburgh.

Two other Newburgh residents were arrested for allegedly helping the gunman after the incident.

On Monday, another Newburgh man was arrested on unrelated gun charges after reports of shots fired. Hours after his arrest, more shots were heard.
