After more than 2,000 acres were consumed, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced on Thursday that the Sam's Point Preserve wildfire has finally been contained.
As officials continue their efforts to put out the wildfire at Sam's Point Preserve, New York State Police helicopters have been actively dropping water on the flames.
Despite Tuesday's rain the wildfire at Sam's Point in Ulster County has spread to 2,000 acres. More fire departments have been deployed to assist in putting the fire out.
