Children that have trouble reading, can get some help from The Literacy Center at SUNY New Paltz.  Children in kindergarten through twelfth grade can sign up for a free literacy assessment.  For children that need remedial literacy support and meet the certain criteria, they will have a chance to attend the Spring 2019 Literacy Tutoring Program.

Literacy assessments will be administered by graduate candidates in the MS Literacy Education program.  There are two sessions to choose from.  Monday, December 3, or Monday, December 10.  Each session runs two hours, starting at 5:15pm.   Results from the assessments will be emailed to parents, the week of December 17.

Parents interested in registering their child for the free literacy assessment, can email Professor Sam Slotnick, Literacy Center Coordinator.  slotnics@newpaltz.edu.  Parents can also contact, The Literacy Center at 845-257-2809.  Information needed, includes contact information for the parent, child’s name, age, school grand and the school they attending.  If a child is already receiving remedial literacy support, please include that information as well.
