8 Photos From Upstate New York’s Most Unique Museum
Upstate New York's most unique museum is located in Corning, NY. Upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised at how large the facility is and all of the activities to enjoy on site.
The Corning Museum of Glass was established in the 1950's by Corning Glass Works. They explained,
"The Corning Museum of Glass is a not-for-profit museum dedicated to exploring a single material: glass. "
The Corning Museum of Glass also mentioned that they see over 300,000 visitors each year. These guests come from all over the world to see this unique museum, a hidden gem in upstate New York.
I was excited to learn that they have over 50,000 objects on display and over 3,500 years of history to learn within the museum in Corning, NY. The more that I explored this museum, I was intrigued by the beauty of different pieces of glass and enjoyed learning about where they were made.
Their Contemporary Art + Design Wing is new and opened in March 2015.
Guests can also experience hands-on exhibits in the Corning Museum of Glass's Innovation Center. Guests can make their own glass or enjoy watching professionals show us how it's done.
They have family and kids programs, lectures and seminars and more. Guests can also volunteer their time and sign up for a membership.
Kids and teens, ages 17 and under qualify for free admission to their museum. AAA members, college students, military members and those who are 62+ can receive 15% off admission. Local residents also receive a discount on admission too.
