Tonight is the night that the holiday season will officially kick-off!

If you haven't been following along, Upstate New York is playing a big part in ringing in the Christmas season this year in Rockefeller Center. Back at the beginning of November, Rockefeller Center announced they had picked a tree from Queensbury New York to be the star of the 2022 holiday season.

Tons of NY Holiday Spirit

Rockefeller Center wrote on Facebook:

Coming in at 82 feet, 14 tons, and hailing from Queensbury, New York, meet your 2022 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree!

And added this beautiful photo of the tree in its natural element:

Light Up The Holiday Season

That beauty right there will light up the holiday season tonight on NBC. The tree will be decked out in 50,000 LED lights and topped with a Swarovski crystal star! Thousands will be in attendance to watch the folks at NBC flip the switch.

The festivities will begin at 8 PM and run until 10 PM with performances by Jimmie Allen, Andrea Bocelli, Matteo Bocelli, Virginia Bocelli, Brett Eldredge, David Foster, and Katharine McPhee, Mickey Guyton, Alicia Keys, Amy Poehler, Radio City Rockettes, Maya Rudolph, The Muppets of Sesame Street, Dan + Shay, Blake Shelton, The Shindellas, Gwen Stefani, Louis York and more according to NBC.com.

Hudson Valley Rockefeller Tree History

While this year's tree comes from our neighbors in Queensbury, there have been Hudson Valley trees used in the past. Back in 2019, the infamous Christmas Tree was from Florida, New York in Orange County, and in 2015 the tree came from Gardiner, New York in Ulster County.

While we patiently wait for the lights to go on, check out the Queensbury tree make its way down to NYC earlier this month.
