Ever since last Friday, all eyes have been on the devastation left behind by Hurricane Helene in parts of North Carolina and Tennessee. Even though we are in New York we know what it means to have a hurricane come through and rip our world apart.

The American Red Cross has set up ways for us to donate from a distance here in the Hudson Valley. It is important to make sure you donate to legitimate organizations that are helping with recovery. Always verify the organization or better yet look to make a donation through a local source you trust.

Different groups are putting together ways you can donate to help the victims of Hurricane Helene and one group is the Red Hook Fire Department. They have adopted a fire station in Tennessee that lost all their equipment. That means they are struggling and can't be there for their community so Red Hook has stepped in to help Elks Mills Poga Fire Department.

Red Hook Shared that Elks Mills is a very small town and that the fire department was completely washed away. They have been salvaging what they can to help their community, but more is needed.

How You Can Donate Through Red Hook Fire Department

The Red Hook Fire Department has posted a list of what is needed and they continue to update the list which you can follow on their social media. They plan to get down to Elk Mills next week so donating in the next few days is important.

They will be at the firehouse at 42 Firehouse Lane in Red Hook taking donations Friday from 7 PM to 9 PM. Weekend times have not been announced yet but you can stop by anytime and put your donation in the trailer which is available all day.

Clintondale Fire Department is Collecting Donations for North Carolina

It was also announced today that the Clintondale Fire Department will be collecting items for Asheville, North Carolina. They have posted a list of what they are collecting on their Facebook page it includes water, non-perishable food, diapers, hygiene items, and formula.

Clintondale will be collecting through October 13th at the firehouse at 1063 44/55 in Clintondale. You can make arrangements to drop off by calling Chief Sabarese at (845) 857-7970.
