Recently, a cost analysis of college tuition rates state by state put New York among the most expensive, but a new study about the best states for college students puts The Empire State in a much more favorable position.

Top States For College Students: A Study

SmileHub, as they do each year, took a look at a number of key metrics, 28 in total, comparing each state to highlight the best states for college students. The key dimensions assessed were education quality and support, social life, and economic environment. Within those, the various metrics were given point values, grading on a 100-point scale. A weighted average across all 28 metrics was used in order to generate the ranking order for the states.

New York Ranks Second Best for College Life

Claiming the number two spot for the second year in a row, New York ranks at the top of the list for the share of rental housing units, third for nightlife options per capita, fifth for average quality of universities, and eighth for earning potential for college graduates.
