Two Catskill High Students Achieve Elite Honor With Carnegie Hall

It's not the first time for this duo; two students from Catskill High School have achieved the status of being named among the highest-rating performers in the world, and will soon take the stage at Carnegie Hall...again.

Two Catskill High School Students To Perform at Carnegie For High School Honors Performance Series

Both a junior and senior from Catskill High School are headed to Carnegie Hall for a pretty big honor, highlighting the highest-rated high school performers from across the world. Junior Madison Mudge, and Senior Molly Osswald have been selected for the 2024 High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall which 'was created to showcase accomplished individual high school performers on an international level.'

The Catskill School District shared that both Osswald and Mudge are active members of the Catskill High School Concert Chorus and Terblaires show choir, the Greene County Music Educator Association All-County Festivals, as well as the school's musical productions and other various school activities. Osswald and Mudge not only participated in, but received high marks at the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Solo Festival.

Both of the students will perform vocally this month, with Osswald in the Mixed Choir and Mudge with the Treble Choir, both under master conductors.

Second Invite In A Row For Catskill High School Students To Carnegie Hall

This isn't the first time these two particular students have been named among the highest-rating performers in the world, as they both received the invitation to Carnegie Hall in 2023 and performed with the Treble Choir. Auditions for this year's Honors Performance Series took place last summer.

Mudge and Osswald will join student performers from around the United State and all over the world for a special performance at the world-famous Carnegie Hall, a venue that marks the pinnacle of musical achievement. The finalists will come together in New York City for five days in February. They will have the opportunity to learn from world-renowned conductors, work with other finalists, and get a taste of New York City.

The performances will take place this Saturday, February 10th and are open to the public with tickets available via the Carnegie Hall Box Office.

Keeping Memories of the Catskill Game Farm Alive! Look at These Photographs!

There is perhaps no greater Baby Boomer memory for Upstate New York kids than a visit to the Catskill Game Farm. At one time, this special place was the largest family-run private zoo in America. It ran from 1933 to 2006.

Today it is still around in a fun and exciting fashion. Yes, today you can spend the night on the grounds of the original game farm and even stay in an original building of the theme park! It has been beautifully restored as a boutique Catskill Mountain inn, it is dripping in nostalgia, and it is awesome!

Look at the photographs below of both the "new" Catskill Game Farm inn, as well as some nostalgic 1950s and 1960s photographs of this wonderful place that we all remember so well.
