A man from the Hudson Valley can boast he's one of the smartest teachers in the nation.

Francois Barcomb of New Paltz finished first in this year's Jeopardy! Teachers Tournament. The Hendrick Hudson physics teacher defeated an Albany history teacher and Maryland music teacher on Friday's finale, winning the $100,000 grand prize.

"He did it! Hen Hud’s own Francois Barcomb came in FIRST PLACE during the Jeopardy! Teachers Tournament," Hendrick Hudson School District wrote on Facebook. "Congratulations to the Hendrick Hudson High School physics teacher, who toppled the competition during the televised final round on Friday evening!"

Teachers Tournament semi-finals after he battled two other teachers and came out victorious, finishing with $20,600. He finished with
$18,801 in the semi-finals, defeating a chemistry teacher from Austin, TX and an English teacher from Stamford, CT.
