Hudson Valley Man Killed By Rogue Tire in Florida
An Orange County man was killed in Florida by a rogue tire.
On Tuesday, June 5, a Hudson Valley man was killed by a runaway tire in the state of Florida, according to the Times Union. Joseu Alfonso Cala, from Tuxedo Park, was 25-years-old when he was killed. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident happened near Fort Lauderdale.
According to the article, a tire flew off a box truck and hit Alfonso Cala's SUV. The Florida Highway Patrol told the Times Union that the box truck lost its front left tire while heading southbound on I-95. It then crossed over and hit Alfonso Cala while driving northbound on I-95.
Alfonso Cala had a passenger in the car, Julianna Maria Charles who is 24-years old, that was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Times Union reports that the accident is currently under investigation.
