Gladys L. Carlsen, a Newburgh Resident, Dies at 98
Gladys L. Carlsen, of the Town of Newburgh, entered into rest on Saturday, January 28, 2017. She was 98. Born in Newburgh on October 8, 1918 she was the daughter of the late William and Emma (Schaffner) LeRoy.
Gladys was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and retired from the Newburgh School District as a Teacher’s Assistant in the Special Education Dept. She was also a former school bus driver for Henry Muthig Bus Corp., a 50 year local Avon representative, a charter member of Valley Bible Baptist Church, Golden Age Club, and St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by her son, Gary Warden and his wife Kermeta (Kookie); grandsons Gary Warden Jr. and his wife Janet and Jason Warden and his fiancé Necole McLean; and great grandchildren Mya Warden and Jayson Scott Warden. A special thank you to DeeDee for her special care given to Mom, and to Hospice of Orange County.
Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Tuesday, January 31 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A service and entombment will be held at 11 am on Wednesday at Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Newburgh.
