Founded by Dr. Gordy Klatt in Washington in 1985, the Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest fundraising event to save lives from cancer. “Uniting communities across the globe, we celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action for lifesaving change,” said Patti Lestrange Mack, Communications Director, American Cancer Society. “During Relay For Life events, members of each team take turns walking around the track or path. Teams participate in fundraising in the months leading up to the event.”

Last year, 2 million participants in the U.S. raised more than $230 million at more than 3,500 events worldwide to help the American Cancer Society attack cancer in dozens of ways, each of them critical to achieving a world without cancer – from developing breakthrough therapies to building supportive communities, from providing empowering resources to deploying activists to raise awareness. Funds raised support the American Cancer Society 24/7 cancer help line and free rides to chemo. By joining the Relay For Life event, you can help attack cancer from every angle.
