Edith Powles of Newburgh, a retired purchasing agent for St. Luke’s Hospital entered into rest Monday, December 4, 2017 at The Pines at Catskill Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was 97 years old.

The daughter of the late Charles and Edith (Moshier) Truss, Edith was born July 6, 1920 in Newburgh.

Edith was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church and was active with the Senior Girls Friendly of the church.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Wolf of Cairo, NY and Kendra Duffy of Wilbraham, Massachusetts; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her brother Harold Truss, Edith was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Powles in 1996.

Visitation for family and friends will be held 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 105 Grand Street, Newburgh.

Funeral service will commence at 12:30 p.m. following visitation at the church. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in New Windsor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. George’s Episcopal Church.
