Sleet, some snow and freezing rain are expected for the region late Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Snow or sleet, mixing with freezing rain is expected for the area near sunrise, Hudson Valley Weather reports.

"Sleet and freezing rain look to make the Thursday AM commute a skating rink." Hudson Valley Weather wrote on Facebook.

Hudson Valley Weather believes icy roads will impact the region Thursday, with conditions being worse the further north you are. An icy commute is expected South of I-84, with travel improving before noon. A "very icy commute" is possible North of 84 and conditions might not improve until mid-day.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Hudson Valley.

Snow is expected to fall late Wednesday into Thursday morning and change to sleet and freezing rain through Thursday afternoon, tapering off to patchy drizzle and freezing drizzle by Thursday evening, the National Weather Service reports.

The National Weather Service is currently predicting up to an inch of snow for the region, while The Weather Channel is calling for 1 to 3 inches.

However, the main concern for this storm is the ice. The National Weather Service says to plan on slippery road conditions which could make for a hazardous Thursday morning commute.

The chance of winter weather could lead to closings and delays in the area on Monday. Make sure to check out our Hudson Valley Storm Center for the most up to date closings and delays and download the Hudson Valley Post app for updates on forecasts and more.
