Josh Grossberg, a contributor for CNBC, recently wrote an article that gives "5 reasons to ditch New York City for the hills of the Hudson Valley."

Grossberg says the Hudson Valley is "brimming with rich cultural heritage, a thriving food and wine scene, and year-round activities that make it an ideal destination for those looking to escape the bustle of the Big Apple."

  • Historic Hangout for Elite
    • The article highlighted the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, where a number of U.S. Presidents have stayed.
  • Spend a Night in a Castle
    • Tarrytown is home to the Castle Hotel & Spa. A castle that was built in 1897
  • Glamping
    • There are a few locations to camp in style in the region, including Collective Hudson Valley at Liberty Farms in Columbia County.
  • Cruise The Hudson River
    • American Cruise Lines' Hudson River Cruise has many stops in the Hudson Valley and expert tour guides take you to the Vanderbilt Mansion, Olana State Historic Site, West Point Military Academy and Sleepy Hollow.
  • Luxury Hotels
    • CNBC recommends staying  Diamond Mills Hotel & Tavern in Saugerties.
