A teen has been arrested after a note on a bathroom wall said there was going to be shooting at a Hudson Valley school.

On Thursday around 9:20 p.m., the Town of Hyde Park Police Department received a report of a threat made at Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School. Police say someone posted a picture on social media of a bathroom wall at FDR stating there was going to be a "shooting tomorrow."

Detectives were able to track down where the post originated from and interviewed the student. The student who made the post had no connection to the suspect, police say.

There was an increased police presence at the high school Friday morning as officers reviewed countless hours of video surveillance, with the assistance of high school administrators, which helped police identify a suspect.

The alleged suspect, a 15-year-old male student at FDR who lives in the Town of Poughkeepsie, was charged with making a terroristic threat after he was interviewed by police.

He was transported to Mid-Hudson Reginal Hospital for a mental health evaluation and given an appearance ticket to appear in Dutchess County Family Court.

The Hyde Park Police urge anyone who observes or hears of a threat not to post it to social media. They should immediately report it to the school and the police.

"These cases are much easier to solve when they are reported promptly. Sending messages via social media and not reporting the incident causes more harm than good," the Town of Hyde Park Police Department said in a press release.
