A World Series champion is coming to the Hudson Valley to coach young athletes.

On Monday, the Saugerties Stallions named Rich Dubee as the teams pitching coach for the 2020 season.

“Rich is one of the most experienced pitching coaches in the country. Every year we strive to improve our program and to have him on our staff is a true gift to not only our incoming pitchers but to our entire program. This is going to be an exceptional upcoming season,” team owner Kevin Hinchey said.

Dubee was drafted in the 1976 MLB draft by the Kansas City Royals. He pitched for the Royals for six years and finished his career 45-49 with a 4.07 ERA

Dubee has over 40 years of coaching experience at the professional level, serving as the pitching coach for the Florida Marlins, Philadelphia Phillies and Detroit Tigers.

He won a World Series title with the Phillies and has coached some of the game’s best pitchers, including such as Justin Verlander, Cole Hamels, Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee.

According to the Stallions, Dubee's elite knowledge of the game will be extremely helpful in developing young college pitchers who dream of pitching in Major League Baseball. The Saugerties Stallions are a 10-week summer baseball team in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League.
