Over the last few months, Walgreens has been working to acquire 1,932 stores from Rite Aid. The Federal Trade Commission approval came for the buy last month.

As a part of the restructuring, Walgreens announced that they will be closing 600 Rite Aid stores. The stores that are most likely to have their doors shut are ones that are in a close physical proximity to Walgreens stores.

Walgreens has yet to make the announcement as to which stores will be closed. In a press release, it was mentioned those decisions will not be made until the beginning of 2018.
