Veronica Mangieri, a resident of Staten Island and formerly of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Friday, October 20, 2017 at Eger Health Care in Staten Island. She was 87.
Daughter of the late Charles and Edna Keeley O'Brien, she was born May 17, 1930 in Brooklyn. She married Gaspar Mangieri on July 9, 1949 at St. Michael's Parish in Brooklyn. Mr. Mangieri preceded her in death on March 17, 2007.
Veronica was a parishioner of St. Mary Mother of the Church in Fishkill and most recently a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. She was also active with Right to Life of Dutchess County.
Survivors include her children, Robert (Theresa) Mangieri, Marianne (Michael) Lauto, Gerard (Rita) Mangieri, Christopher Mangieri, Monica Mangieri, and Veronica Mangieri; her ten grandchildren; her eight great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband of fifty-seven years, she was predeceased by her sister, Geraldine O'Brien and brother, Charles O'Brien.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 26 at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Wappingers Falls.
