A Dutchess County town has seen a number of similar break ins with in the past few weeks.

The Red Hook Police Department released a statement today about several vehicle break ins in Red Hook.  On Tuesday, November 27th Red Hook PD responded to a call at the popular walking trail at Poets Walk. There had been a theft from a parked car, where the window was smashed in and a purse was taken.

According to the press release this wasn't an isolated incidents as similar thefts have occurred at Bard College in Rhinebeck.

Red Hook Police believe punch tools are being used to gain access to visible contents. Police suggest this activity is similar to the “Felony Lane Gang" which is a group known to work along the east coast and has made appearances in our area.

If you do see something suspicious the Red Hook Police Department ask you to contact them at 845-758-0060. They also urge residents to "please be aware of leaving any personal items in your vehicles."
