Ulster County Executive Mike Hein announced a warming center at the Clinton Avenue United Methodist Church would be open during the winter storm.

Ulster County is under a State of Emergency until 8PM on Tuesday. Hein advised residents to stay off the roads to allow Department of Public Works and emergency responders to safely do their jobs.

"My first and foremost goal is the safety of all Ulster County residents. Our DPW crews are already prepared and I am certain they will meet any challenge head on," Hein said in the press release. “Residents should remain off the roads throughout the duration of the storm and be prepared with emergency items such as food, water, and batteries."

The State of New York and Dutchess and Orange counties also declared a State of Emergency during the storm.

Individuals in Ulster County in need of shelter have been advised to contact the warming center at the United Methodist Church at 845-331-7188. Families in need of shelter should call Family of Woodstock at 845-338-2370, Hein said in the press release.
