Ulster County Man Uses Lamp As Weapon During Dispute

An Ulster County man is facing  assault charges after using a lamp to strike a person in the head several times during a dispute.  

As you've probably guessed, this story comes from the land of weird news...Saugerties. All I want to know is what did the lamp do to anyone?

Samual J. DeGroat, 33, of Saugerties was arrested for Assault in the third-degree, a misdemeanor.

On Wednesday, Saugerties Police responded to a residence for a reported dispute. During the course of the investigation, it was established that DeGroat struck the victim in the head several times with a lamp, causing injury to the victim.

DeGroat was taken into custody at the scene, and transported back to police headquarters.

Degroat was processed and arraigned in the Town of Saugerties Court. DeGroat was released on his own recognizance upon the issuance of a Court Order of Protection on behalf of the victim.
