An Ulster County man is facing 46 counts of felony weapon possession. Police say they found a disguised gun, daggers, a sword, and much more.

On Tuesday around 9:30 p.m., deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office stopped a car on Route 9W in Milton for an alleged traffic violation. An investigation at the scene revealed the vehicle contained numerous weapons, police say.

Claudio Amaro, 47, of Marlboro was charged with 46 counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class D felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class A misdemeanor, from a prior conviction.

During a search of Amaro’s car, authorities allegedly discovered daggers, brass knuckles, a sword, a disguised gun with live ammunition and several loaded 30 round magazines.

A continued investigation led officials to search a storage unit in the Town of Lloyd. The storage unit contained 4 disguised guns, a rifle, an assault weapon and over 35 high capacity magazines, police say.

Amaro was arraigned in Town of Lloyd Justice Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail.

Deputies were assisted in the investigation by the Town of Marlborough Police and the Ulster County Sheriff's Office Detective Unit.
