Two Dutchess County men are facing felony DWI and other charges in two unrelated traffic stops.

According to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, Monday afternoon a vehicle was spotted driving erratically in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

The driver, 38-year-old Jaison D. Cook, of Pleasant Valley was found to be intoxicated, police say. Cook was given a felony DWI when it was discovered he has a previous DWI conviction within the past 10 years.

Cook was also allegedly in possession of a dagger and concentrated marijuana at the time of his arrested. He was additionally charged with 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and 4th-degree criminal possession of a weapon, misdemeanors.

Cook was released on an appearance ticket and is due to appear before the Town of Poughkeepsie Court on June 6.

Around 7:45 p.m. Monday, a Deputy on patrol observed a vehicle traveling erratically and failing to keep right on Old Hopewell Road in the Town of East Fishkill.

After an interview, 43-year-old Benjamin M. Murello, of Wappinger was taken into custody for DWI. During processing it was discovered that Murello’s license was suspended and that he has a previous DWI conviction within the last 10 years.

Murello was charged with DWI, 1st-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, felonies, failing to keep right and refusing to submit to a breath test, traffic infractions.

Murello was released after posting $750 bail, and is due to appear before the Town of East Fishkill Court at a later date.
