On December 18 around 5:45 pm, New York State Police stopped a Nissan sedan for vehicle and traffic violations. As Troopers began exiting the marked patrol car with all emergency lights activated, a 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-280 side-swiped the front of the patrol car and then slammed into the rear of the Nissan.

The Mercedes rolled over and came to a rest upside down in the center of I-84.  The driver and only occupant, 24-year-old Aleksandr J. Venticinque of Danbury was removed from the vehicle and found to be uninjured.

The Nissan which had been pushed off of the road as a result of the crash was occupied by three people that needed to be extricated by the Lake Carmel Fire Department. 64-year-old Luis Juanacido the driver and front seat passenger Edwin J. Villavicencio, age 38, both of Danbury were transported to Danbury Hospital with minor injuries.  The rear seat occupant, Diago Yomesba, age 30, also of Danbury was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

New York State Police have not released the condition of the two Troopers that were injured and the accident is still under investigation.  State Police are asking that anyone with information contact them at 845-677-7300.
