A snow-covered Route 9W led to a tractor trailer losing control and crashing through a guardrail and into an embankment Monday morning. 

Early Monday morning, Ulster County Deputies responded a a 911 call for a property damage accident involving a tractor trailer that was over an embankment.

An investigation conducted at the scene revealed that the 2016 Freightliner, operated by Lawrence Orso, 62, of Washingtonville was traveling northbound on Rt. 9W.

Mr. Lawrence lost control of the vehicle on the snow covered roadway as the trailer began to slide while proceeding around a bend.

The vehicle traveled across the roadway, breaking the guardrail on the southbound side, and came to a stop in an embankment.

Mr. Orso was not injured during the accident and had extricated himself from the vehicle.

Due to the weight of the vehicle and cardo involved, two heavy-duty wrecker tow trucks were required to remove the vehicle.

Route 9W was closed for several hours while the process took place, according to a press release.
