The New York Municipal Insurance Reciprocal's (NYMIR) Risk Management Award for 2017 has been presented to the Town of Fishkill.

Town Supervisor Bob LaColla accepted the award on behalf of Fishkill at the Association of Towns of the State of New York (AOT) at the Association's annual Training School and Annual Meeting.

"Fishkill was chosen because of the way in which its officers and employees seek advice, listen, and then respond to risk recommendations and other loss control suggestions," NYMIR Executive Director Kevin Crawford said.

Citing a very active Safety Committee, NYMIR rated the Town of Fishkill among the very best among their more than 880 subscribers in NY.

In accepting the award, LaColla said that the award "is an affirmation of all of the hard work that our department heads and the head of the Risk Management have done to make Fishkill a safe workplace. By seeking advice from NYMIR, the town has benefited from a substantial reduction in Workers' Compensation claims."
