Some 77 grams of KHAT, a natural growing amphetamine with the scientific name of cathinone were recovered by the NYS Police during a traffic stop on the NYS Thruway in Newburgh on Tuesday night.

At 9:05 pm on Dec. 13 NYS Troopers pulled over a vehicle operated by 30-year-old Kaid M. Addailam of Brooklyn for a moving violation. During the roadside questioning, probable cause was raised to search the vehicle and the occupants. During the search, Addailam was found to be in possession of 77 grams of KHAT.

The suspect was taken into custody and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree; a Class B Felony. He was also cited with vehicle and traffic violations. Arraigned in the Town of Newburgh Justice Court, Addailam was remanded to the Orange County Jail with a $10,000 cash or bond bail. He is due back in Newburgh Justice Court on December 19th at 4:00 pm.
