For anyone who has a little person in their life, you are more than aware of the jumping, running, and climbing that comes along with all of the snuggles, playing, and laughter. While there's nothing inherently harmful about any of these activities, what your child decides to climb on could be a matter of life or death.

According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, more than a million chest of drawers manufactured by Ameriwood Home, and sold in Walmart stores across the country since 2009 as well as online, pose a serious risk of tipping over that could cause injuries or even death for a child. They could possibly even entrap a child if they are not properly anchored to the wall.

As a result, they are issuing a recall for the line of Ameriwood Mainstays Chest of Drawers that came in alder, black forest, white, weathered oak, walnut, and ruby red.  If you own any of these units, it is recommended that you stop using it if it isn't properly anchored and keep it out of reach of children.

You can call Ameriwood, at 877-222-7460, and ask for a free repair kit that includes not only the anchoring device, but feet for the unit as well. You can also get more information by visiting their website and clicking on Support.
