Teen Hit By Car Crossing Street Near Local School
A Hudson Valley teenager was hit by a car as he crossed the street next to a local school.
On Wednesday around 6 p.m., City of Newburgh police responded to the area of 435 South Street for a motor vehicle accident involving a person.
Officers found a 14-year-old man from the Town of New Windsor who was hit while attempting to cross South Street, next to Newburgh Free Academy.
The driver and an independent witness both separately told officers that the teen ran from behind a parked car, going south to north, across South Street, police say.
The teen struck the passenger side bumper, hood and windshield of the involved car and was thrown a few feet from the accident.
The unnamed 14-year-old was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital. Hospital staff told police that they believe the teen suffered a concussion.
No tickets were issued to the driver.
