A teenage girl was charged with attempted burglary and more after she allegedly tried to break into a local liquor store.

On Feb. 29, 2016 around 1:50 a.m., Putnam County Police responded to a report of a burglar alarm at a liquor store located on Fairfield Drive in the Putnam Lake section of the Town of Patterson. Upon arrival, it was determined that an unknown suspect had used a rock to break the glass to the front door of the business.

Nothing was stolen from the store. Officials believe the suspect fled the scene when the store’s alarm sounded.

Criminal Investigators from the Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), working in conjunction with detectives from the Danbury Police Department, developed a suspect in the incident. The suspect was identified as Sara M. Sadler, 17, of Brookfield, Connecticut .

On Thursday, investigators arrested Sadler and charged her with 3rd-degree attempted burglary and 3rd-degree criminal mischief, felonies.

Sadler was processed and turned over to the custody of a parent pending an April 14 appearance in the Town of Patterson Justice Court.

The investigation continues, additional arrests are expected.

If found guilty of the felony charges, the suspect could face up to four years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.00 for each charge.
