ROTONDA WEST, FL – Richard Erich Beyer, 81, ended his journey on earth on May 26, 2017 at his summer residence in Hopewell Junction.

Born on October 12, 1935 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of Richard J. and Madeline W. Beyer. After high school, Richard joined the US Air Force and was a Veteran of the Korean War. Following his graduation from Fairleigh Dickinson University, he moved to New York State. He was employed as an Advisory Industrial Engineer for IBM in East Fishkill and retired after many years. Following his retirement, he moved to Florida.

Richard was an active member of the East Fishkill Fire District, having served with both the Rescue Squad and Fire Police. He was a life member of the Wiccopee Fire Company where he served as a past president. He retired as a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, serving in many positions including Flotilla Commander. He enjoyed “RV”ing , and spending time with his family seeing the country. He was also an avid boater going through many boats, and many good times.

Richard is survived by his wife, Joan; his sons and their wives, Kenneth and Julie Beyer, and Scott and Jennifer Beyer; his grandchildren, Kyle and Keith Beyer, Kelsey and Lauren Beyer, Jenna, Stephen and Jamie Peragallo; his brother, Gerald Beyer, his wife Laura, and son Christopher; his sisters, Karen Houde and Laurie Lynch; his son-in-law, Ronald Peragallo; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Jodi Beyer Peragallo; and his brothers, Thomas Beyer and Robert Beyer.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 10am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville.
