The City of Poughkeepsie Mayor, once again, took matters into his own hands. This time when it comes to illegal dumping.

City of Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison is no stranger to going above and beyond when it comes to protecting his city.

Last Feb., Rolison and his wife were enjoying a dinner in downtown Poughkeepsie when he spotted two men tagging graffiti on a building. Rolison, and a restaurant employee, chased the vandals for several blocks, before the men eluded the mayor.

“Let the word get out that the city of Poughkeepsie won’t tolerate any level of crime or vandalism.” Rolison wrote on Facebook regarding in incident. “Together we will work block by block to make our city safer, cleaner, and stronger,”

On Thanksgiving, Rolison was back in action trying to protect Poughkeepsie. This time, he spotted a mattress that was illegally dumped on the side of the road on South Cherry Street.
