Poughkeepsie Makes Appearance on ‘Portlandia’ Season Finale
The season finale of IFC’s comedy smash, “Portlandia,” featured a familiar Hudson Valley town.
The quirky sketch series starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein just wrapped up its seventh season. The show is set in Portland, Oregon and features characters from the city that always seems to be stuck in the 1990s.
On the final episode of the season, Armisen and Brownstein starred in a sketch called “Instant Garbage.” The infomercial-style segment centered around a fictional company that produces useless products that everyone buys and just throws away.
From USB chargers that don’t work to cell phone cases that don’t seem to fit any phone, the items are priced at just the right price so it’s not even worth returning them to the store.
At one point during the segment the duo is seen in a warehouse packing boxes to send to various cities across the country. A shipment to Poughkeepsie is grabbed off of the top shelf and then drop kicked across the warehouse floor.
While it wasn’t revealed what was in the box, I’m pretty sure I’ve purchased at least a few of those items at one of our local mall kiosks. How about you?
